3-hydroxy Stearic acid methyl ester is a hydroxylated fatty acid methyl ester that has been found in methyl-branched poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) polymers produced by Streptomyces sp. JM3 and in trace amounts in M. bijuga fruit. It is a chemical scent constituent in feces of adult wild Iberian wolves (C. lupus signatus).
