QKIis involved in myelinizationand oligodendrocyte differentiation, and it may play a role in schizophrenia.Defects or deletions in the QKIare linked with astrocytic tumors and may be implicated in the pathogenesis ofschizophrenia. Among the diseases associated with QKI are6q terminal deletion syndrome, and schizophrenia.
