FolateReceptor 1, also known as FOLR1, is a part of the folate receptor family whosemembers bind folic acid. FOLR1 binds to folate and reducedfolic acid derivatives and facilitates transfer of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate andfolate analogs into the cells. FOLR1is either attaches to membranes through a glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol linkageor exists in a soluble form. FOLR1 is also needed for embryonicdevelopment and normal cell proliferation.
